It was such a great pleasure to be invited to attend the pre wedding henna ceremony of the stunning Shayza. On arrival at the venue I was greeted by a group of excited ladies all preparing the room for the brides imminent arrival. The smell of food was delicious and the dj was starting to get things started. Henna (or Mehndi) parties are held for most Muslim brides. They are usually celebrated a few days before the wedding with close women friends and family. Special artists create designs on the bride's hands and feet with henna paste, resulting in a deep red stain that lasts several weeks. Henna designs simultaneously protect and adorn the bride -- and the party creates a female bonding opportunity. Henna Artist below Safina Adam Friends and family of the bridal party celebrate and dance to keep the bride occupied whilst her henna is applied. It really was such a great honour and pleasure to be part of such a wonderful occasion.
